The universal service in postal services: working group recommends better regional accessibility and more intensive dialogue

Biel/Bienne, 16.05.2018 - The accessibility of the universal service in postal services and payment services is to be guaranteed differently in future: this is the conclusion reached by a working group on the universal service in postal services which was created by Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard. In its report published today, the group indicated proposed solutions to the future configuration of the postal network. For example, the group suggests a new accessibility measurement system at the cantonal level, strengthening communication between the cantons and municipalities and Swiss Post and increasing the attractiveness of the agencies. The working group's recommendations are intended to contribute to ensuring that the economy and the population continue to be provided with excellent postal and payment services in the future.
